COUNCIL PROGRAM FOR 2011-2012

(A PRINTABLE COPY OF THIS IS LOCATED IN THE COUNCIL FORMS AND FILES SECTION)

Raising Interest By Raising Knowledge

1. I believe that the way to raise interest in the York Rite is to raise the level of knowledge that Companions have. By knowing more about what we do, you will be better prepared to expound on the Degrees to our lesser informed Brothers of the Blue Lodge. So, to that end, I have set out a calendar of lessons to be reviewed during your local Council meetings. It may be that your Council is proficient in the lesson for this month, and if so, please feel free to skip to the next month. By reviewing all 12 of these lessons, you and your Council will be better prepared to answer questions and do the work necessary to help Companions complete the Degrees. These lessons may be used as educational talks.

Each lesson reviewed will be worth 1 point on the Council Inspection.

2. Festivals or combined degree work is a good way to help Candidates get their degrees completed. It is also a good source of points for Inspections, as each Companion participating in the Degree work earns points for his Council.

3. All Councils greeting new Companions will have an extra 1 point per Companion
added to their Council Inspection scores. Recorders should keep track of points earned and add them to the Inspection Sheet or forward them to the Arch Deputy.

4. New Proficiency cards will be worth 1 point each. Companions that already hold a proficiency card may prove their knowledge to any Grand Officer or Arch Deputy and be credited the points on the Council Inspection.

So, there are a lot of opportunities for extra points this year, and the Council Of The Year will open the Grand Session in September, 2012. This will be an opportunity to showcase your knowledge and skill to Companions from across the state.
